Ya. He's one of the most exciting players to ever play the game. He single-handedly exploded this fan base into what it is today. I'm sure we eventually would have got here but he did a lot for the Canucks product. |

How do we erase Tikkanen, Letowski, Johnson, May, Tambellini and Courtnall from the record books?
edit: Canucks let everyone and their dog wear number 10. What a disgrace. |

I'd hang his number up if he would agree to come back to Vancouver on occassion and actually REPRESENT the franchise, rather than stay holed up in Florida. There's a reason we only have Linden's, Smyl's and Naslund's numbers up in the rafters, they at least still return to Vancouver for important ceremonies for the Canucks and stay active in the community. |

Hang his number up and I bet he would make the odd trip up.
Besides, I'm not really sure that really matters when you are retiring a number. It's about what the player did, not what he's going to do.
I mean, how often does Gretzky or Messier show up in Edmonton? Do you think Oilers fans think less of them because they don't live there? I doubt it.

We have different criteria for raising a number to the rafters, we value players who were great on ice and were active in the community (one of the reasons Bure hasn't had his number retired before now). Is it too much to ask that we make a condition since we're going against our normal criteria to make an exception for him to ask him to represent the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver on special occasions? And don't forget, Gretzky/Messier won multiple cups in Edmonton, and had their numbers retired in more than just Edmonton so that point is sort of moot. |

Probably not. I do expect it in the rafters of the ACC after he takes the Leafs to the playoffs this year though. |

And Toronto. He'll be a savior for leading Toronto back in the #8 slot in the East...just to get knocked out in the 1st round however. |

How often is Naslund in Vancouver? I thought he retired back to Sweden?
Bure is one of the top talents to ever play the game. The fact his number isn't already in the rafters is a joke. |

That has more to do with Bure then it does the current Canucks organization. |

I'm with you, in the fact I think this is long overdue. Regardless of all the speculation about his departure and what he may or may not have said, he still deserves to hang in the rafters and have his number retired. The most skilled and entertaining player to ever play for us and helped bring excitement and fans to the stadium, at a time when it wasn't exactly strong. People often forget that we haven't always had sellouts every single game, like we do now.
As for him personally, I had the plasure of meeting him almost 10 times during his stay in Vancouver, and every single time he was nothing but nice. Always had a smile on his face, signed anything I had and always said thanks for coming out. |

When I was a kid I had the privilege to watch Bure play a number of times. I would stand at the boards with the other kids before the game and scream during warm up. I don't remember any of the other kids yelling anything but BURE and he would always engage us with a wave or a wink. Great memories and being 9 to 12 during that time those memories of multi point games and electric buildings are the reason I'm such a huge fan today. Anyone who said he doesn't deserve to be in the rafters are way off base. My all time favourite player. Should have been in the HHF years ago. |

That's a weird excuse. Unless he is planning a comeback.

I'm a huge Bure fan, but I'm pretty indifferent to his jersey getting retired. It doesn't really add anything to his contributions here. Maybe it heals the wound left by his acrimonious hold out and trade, but I enjoyed watching Jovo. Despite being the best player we've ever had, Bure didn't mean what Smyl, Linden or even Naslund did to the club. I'm fine with it happening or not. |
